Parenting Styles

Most of us were treated to the parenting styles of either the “Do as I say or else” Authoritarian approach or they experienced the absent parenting (Permissive) method where the child just ended up feeling invisible and/or neglected.

Unfortunately, these two approaches are very common. Either they were carried over from the parents’ experiences growing up or they were determined to not be as strict and rigid as their parents and thus, ended up being too permissive at the other extreme.

Ultimately, the best style is a balanced approach – Authoritative/Democratic style. You do need to be the authority, but the child needs to feel loved and understood and have some say in decisions, etc. If you were parented in the Authoritarian or Permissive way, you have to break the cycle by using your awareness of what is best and have a parenting plan.

Now that you know the best approach to take, you may wonder why you need to know this astrology stuff.

Personally, I sometimes wonder how much better and healthier my childhood would have been if my brash and out-going parents had utilized 1) the Authoritative/Democratic parenting style and 2) astrology for kids.

I was a shy and withdrawn child. I have my sun in Cancer, my moon in Libra, and my rising sign in Leo. Knowing this information would have been such a blessing for my parents. They would have understood that the tough love method was not ideal. There are so many things that they could have done to allow me to grow in a more natural and healthy way. I truly needed the love and logic parenting (Authoritative/Democratic style) for my personality. If they had known the implications of their chosen parenting approach, I know they would have had the good sense to try the best method for me.

I can only guess at what the results would have been, but I am sure they would have been wonderful. I am also sure that I would have felt much more confidence in myself and second-guessed myself much less than I actually ended up doing.

It is important to keep in mind that no parent is perfect. I know that my parents did the best that they knew how too, just like most parents. We are all going to make some mistakes somewhere along the way. However, the very fact that you are researching the best parenting plan for your child clearly indicates that you are on the right path and in time you will succeed.

The challenge is to try to use the information that is out there to guide us into making better decisions. Now parents have the amazing opportunity to do what works best for their children.

I sincerely urge parents to use a combination of Authoritative/Democratic parenting and astrology for your child to make the best, educated decisions for your own parenting.
