This section of the website will provide the astrology basics to get you started on learning astrology. First, you need to get your free astrology birth chart if you do not have it yet. You will want to have it with you while you are learning as you can apply what you are learning to yourself.

You can obtain your free astrological birth chart simply by signing up for the Inner Flame News. This is this site's monthly newsletter that contains monthly promotions, the latest astrology info, and special features.

Let's get started! Below I have outlined a sequence that makes sense for learning astrology. I have divided the main areas up into lessons. Each lesson should be done at your own pace. For example, Lesson 3 make take 3 days to get through it. I am simply providing a logical order to your learning.

Lesson 1 Astrological Wheel

Let's start with your astrological wheel or astrology chart. To put it quite simply, your astrological wheel is very much like a photograph from the heavens at the moment you took your very first breath in this world. It clearly shows where the zodiac planets (including the sun and the moon) were at that moment in time.

To create or cast an astrology chart, you must have a date of birth, location (city, state or province), and the EXACT time of birth.

Most of the time this information can be obtained from a person's birth certificate. If the time of birth is not on the birth certificate, there are other ways to locate the time or determine the time by doing what is called a chart rectification. Lesson 2 Horoscope Houses

The time of birth is so essential because it literally decides the direction and tone of the astrology chart. This is because it determines which sign should be labeled as the ascendant or rising sign. The rising sign is the first house so the next sign would be the second house and so on.

These are known as the horoscope houses. Each house has a huge influence on a different area of your life so it is very important to make sure that each of the houses is in the correct position.

Lesson 3 Zodiac Planets

Each of the astrology or zodiac planets symbolizes a distinct 'mission' that you have come to this Earth to master. For instance, the astrology sun signs describe where we want to shine in this life. Their location in the astrological wheel literally describes where a person's soul wants you to really excel. It is where your main focus is and where you feel most at home. Another good example is the Saturn symbol in your astrology chart. It is where you have neglected your duties and/or affairs in previous lifetimes and where you must work very hard to succeed.

Lesson 4 Astro Signs

The zodiac is a celestial belt of stars that provides the backdrop to what appears from Earth to be the path of the sun around the Earth. The zodiac planets from Earth's view are located in front of the various astro signs. In astrology, a planet being in a certain astrology birth sign informs an astrologer as to the "style" that planet will behave in.

Lesson 5 Astrology Aspects

In addition, quite a bit of the geometry that you learned back in high school will (finally) be used in analyzing your astrology chart. The angles that the various planets make to one another are known as the astrology aspects.

There are 5 major aspects in astrology basics and then several minor ones. These aspects allow an astrologer to more deeply penetrate into the psychology of an individual.

For example, an astrological square is defined by two planets making an angle of 90 degrees to one another. This aspect describes an intense dynamic between two planets that can inject a person with either frustration in the respective houses that the two planets reside in OR a fighting spirit to overcome the obstacles that are in this person's way.

Lesson 6 Putting it All Together with Intuition

As you can see, all of these astrology basics are absolutely required in order to have a truly accurate astrology chart. When an astrologer translates the information in an astrology chart, he is interpreting the abundant symbolism of the planets, the astro signs they are in, the house they are in, and the astrology aspects between them.

The combination of all of the information above gives an astrologer an immense amount of data that he must interpret using both his intellect and his intuition. There is definitely a ton of information to decipher, but with enough desire, patience, and practice, anyone can do it. Honest!
